Cast Glass, Copper Pipe, Steel Structure

This client saw the fountain I created for the Mellwood Art Center and asked me to create a similar one for his back deck. Mounted on copper pipe, these glass bowls pour water into the bowl below until the water disappears through the mexican beach pebbles to the lined resevoir below. A happy occurrence with this fountain is the slight ringing sound that occurs from the resonating copper pipe.

Cast Glass, Steel Pipe

I entered a call for a fountain at the Mellwood Art Center and was awarded the chance to build it. The idea was to incorporate the past, present and future of Mellwood. I had a suspicion that there would be a lot of fountains that would feature pigs (as Mellwood's previous usage was a meat packing plant) and frankly, I'm over the whole pig thing. I designed the fountain to reflect the industrial nature of the space. It reaches ten feet tall and is constructed from steel pipe and glass. The water is recycling- it's pumped up the tallest pipe to the uppermost glass bowl and pours from bowl to bowl to the lowest bowl where it overflows dissapearing into the gravel- and filling the resevoir.
